WE ARE OPEN TO OFFERS
SCREEN USED METEBELIS III SPIDER (1974)
Original BBC production made prop from Jon Pertwee’s final Doctor Who Story ‘Planet of the Spiders’. From the personal collection of Graham Duff, actor in Doctor Who episode ‘Deep Breath’ and Harry Potter. For a mini biography on Graham Duff read below.
This is a genuine Screen Used Doctor Who BBC prop from the Doctor Who Episode “Planet of the Spiders” Starring Jon Pertwee.
It was made at the BBC, by special effects genius Steve Bowman (who told Graham it was the first prop he ever made for Doctor Who) and was given to Graham by Steve, when they were working together on one of his own TV shows in 2001. It’s in very good condition, considering it’s 43 years old and has been kept safe inside a display cabinet. Construction is a mixture of wood, metal wire, staples and papier-maché. The legs are articulated and the spider measures roughly 18 inches by 12 and approximately 6 inches high.
There were numerous spiders made for the story and this being one of them. We have checked the episode and there is a strong possiblity this spider is either of the two in this shot which is a ‘screen grab’ taken from the BBC production itself.
Being only a handful of original Jon Pertwee era screen used props left in existence, this is truely a wonderful piece to own and find from such an iconic episode.
The standard agreement on this sale is that it is collection only but other arrangements can be made however you will need to contact us first. We are open to offers on this piece so please contact us to make your offer/bid.
